Massachusetts House Bill No. 175, if passed, will prohibit the use of non-competition agreements in any employment contract involving veterinarians.
Presently, for most occupations, Massachusetts courts are prepared to accept and enforce reasonable non-competition agreements. These agreements must be reasonable in several ways, including reasonable in scope, duration, and distance.
If you have been asked to sign such an agreement, or are ready to ask someone to sign one, are you comfortable with the enforceability of it? Important agreements are often worth having reviewed by appropriate counsel.
